Deliver
The Deliver component speaks to how we provide services to students both directly and indirectly.

Direct Services
These are instances in which the student is receiving services from the counselor face-to-face, either virtually or in person.
Indirect Services
These services support the student without requiring a face-to-face meeting with the school counselor.

Direct Services Provided
1. Instruction- This usually happens in the classroom for counselors as well. The purpose of instruction is to help students with their potential as it pertains to social development, career exploration,
emotional development, achievement within the classroom and beyond. By helping in these areas, the students will be supported within their communities and grow in these areas.
2. Appraisal- The counselor must work with students to help them with their interests and to help them see
their strengths and weaknesses. This often consists of assessments and explorations where they can figure out what they excel in order to help them figure out things like career possibilities or even social plans. Inventories and surveys can be used to help with appraisal as well.
3. Advisement- Once a student has received feedback about their strengths and weaknesses, the data should help
us support the student. We can help the student with their future goals
based off of all of the data that has been collected.
4. Counseling Ability- Counseling is specific to the school setting and how we can help students for a short period of
time who may have come across an obstacle that is in the way of their success within the school setting. School counselors will support the students through these struggles
within the building and after situations are over as well.

Indirect Services Provided
1. Consultation- There will be times when counselors must share information with others who support the
student. It is important that the counselor can do this successfully so that the student can
maximize their potential. Counselors need to inform those invested in the student about ways they can help the student succeed. This could also include the counselor
having to seek information about the student to support.
2. Collaboration- School counselors must work with those invested in the student to come up with ways the student can be most successful. This also includes reaching out to people within the community.
3. Referrals- When the student can benefit from additional support that is longer than short-term then a referral may be necessary. This can be for things like tutoring or long-term counseling.
